Mentoring Program - Pittsburgh Pals!

You ain't never had a friend like me!

Announcing Pittsburgh Pals Mentorship Program!   A safe place to acclimate to the game of golf.  Open to all EWGA members who want to build more confidence on the links or support others in doing so.

Interested in Having a Mentor?

Pittsburgh Pals mentoring program offers an opportunity for a new or beginner golfer to have a “golfing buddy” to help you get around the golf course safely and answer questions about etiquette, basic rules and the other nuances of the game, like pace of play, in order to build your confidence and comfort in a golf course setting.  Though the mentor is not there to help you with your golf swing, she can help you feel more comfortable playing golf with others.

Who is a Mentee?

A mentee is someone who wants to learn more about course conduct and tips associated with play.  A mentee is paired with a mentor to guide them around the golf course safely and answer questions about etiquette, basic rules and the other nuances of the game, like pace of play, in order to build confidence and comfort in a golf course setting.

Benefits of becoming a Mentee:

•Opportunity to learn from an experienced golfer on the golf course, and get more involved in EWGA

•Ability to tap into a "buddy" to ask questions throughout the year

•Receive a free 9-hole round of golf for you and your Mentor

•Receive a voucher for free bucket of balls at Robert Morris Island Sports Center (driving range)

•Chance to win 1-hour private lesson at Cool Springs Golf Center

Want to be a Mentor to a fellow golfer within the chapter?

Help a new golfer find the fun and enjoyment that golf and EWGA has brought to you! A mentor is responsible for helping a new golfer get comfortable on the course and learn about basic rules, etiquette, pace of play and how to participate in EWGA!

Who is a Mentor?

A mentor is an experienced, but not necessarily good golfer who guides a new golfer on pace of play, basic rules and proper etiquette on and off the golf course. Also, a mentor may guide the new member on how to participate in other EWGA events or contests.   Do you have an understanding of the basic rules (such as where to tee off, how to mark a ball, etc.)?  Are you comfortable with pace of play and etiquette on the golf course?

Benefits of becoming a Mentor:

•Satisfaction and reward of helping a new golfer get hooked on this game we all love!

•Opportunity to build a new friendship and help a fellow golfer grow

•Receive a free 9-hole round of golf for you and your Mentee

•Chance to win a prize at end of season event raffle

To sign up for Pittsburgh Pals as either a mentee or mentor, please contact our Education Chair, Greer Lowry, at handicap@ewgapgh.com
